One Moment...

Edwin van Hellenberg Hubar founded Klamboe Collection® in the early 1980s. After completing his Economics studies, he traveled to Asia, where he began producing and trading mosquito nets. He has always been fascinated by the simplicity of a mosquito net: it is the simplest and most effective way to be free from buzzing and biting mosquitoes. There’s no need for sprays, electric zappers, or chemicals. A mosquito net is therefore also the most environmentally friendly solution to the mosquito problem.

Edwin was the first to introduce mosquito nets on a larger scale in many European countries. The nets are produced exclusively for Klamboe Collection®, made from strong 75-denier fabric with relatively small holes (mesh 256). This ensures long-lasting durability and premium quality.

Saskia van Vollenhoven worked for more than 10 years as a makeup artist for numerous well-known film and television productions. For over 20 years, Saskia has been Edwin’s life partner and business partner at Klamboe Collection. She is responsible for the creative direction of the company. In this role, she designed the patented six-sided canopy mosquito net, now one of the standout items in the collection. Saskia also ensured that all Klamboe and Klamboe-related products are perfectly coordinated, resulting in a complete Klamboe product line that is now distributed worldwide.

Saskia from Klamboe CollectionThe idea that a mosquito net can be not only functional, but also atmospheric, is a vision Saskia brought into the company.

For every space and style, there is a suitable model.
There are colorful children’s mosquito nets, luxurious large round models, lightweight travel nets, and rectangular design nets. The newest models are made from bamboo. Since bamboo mosquito-net fabric did not yet exist, Saskia traveled to the Far East, where many bamboo products are made. There she discovered the many advantages of bamboo fiber: "It has a thermal effect, meaning it cools in warm rooms but retains heat in cooler rooms. The fabric feels wonderfully soft, breathes well, and the fiber produces an extremely strong thread."

Bamboo is a robust grass species that can grow under extreme weather conditions. It requires little water, no pesticides, and is the fastest-growing plant in the world. The bamboo plant absorbs five times more carbon monoxide than trees, giving bamboo plantations an air-purifying effect. Bamboo also has antiseptic properties, which prevent the formation of mold.

Due to urbanization, the number of mosquitoes has increased significantly in recent years.
Mosquitoes survive winters more easily in warmer areas, and new exotic species are appearing. The tiger mosquito is an aggressive species that can cause severe allergic reactions and transmit diseases such as dengue and West Nile virus. Overuse of chemicals makes mosquitoes resistant. Sleeping under a mosquito net remains the most peaceful and sustainable solution.
